Home of the Davis Woodland Water Supply Project
The Woodland-Davis Clean Water Agency – a joint powers authority – was established by the Cities of Woodland and Davis to develop a sustainable, high-quality water supply by 2016 for Woodland, Davis, and UC Davis.
The Woodland/Davis region is one of the few remaining urbanized areas in California that depends on groundwater for 100 percent of drinking water supplies. Faced with aging wells and declining groundwater quality, the Woodland-Davis Clean Water Agency plans to build, own and operate surface water supply facilities and pipelines to supplement and largely replace the current groundwater supply with higher-quality surface water from the nearby Sacramento River. The effort is commonly known as The Davis Woodland Water Supply Project.
The project is primarily intended to:
· provide a reliable water supply to meet existing and future needs
· improve water quality for drinking water supplies
· improve the quality of treated wastewater discharged by the Project Partners through 2040
